
The Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce provides the community with a weekly luncheon. This luncheon is held at the beautiful Westmark hotel and offers a choice between soup and salad or a full meal. While you enjoy lunch and the fellowship of others business minded people in the community you will have the chance to learn about a pertinent Alaska issue. If you haven't attended the luncheons here is an example of the speakers you have missed:
Robert Moffat, Senior Vice President, Integrated Operations, IBM. Mr. Moffat is also the senior executive sponsor of IBM’s Native America Executive Task Force. Who spoke regarding the Native American Partnership in Education Program. The program’s goal is to provide Mt. Edgecumbe students with the skills they need to compete in the global economy from their own villages and cities, and contribute to Alaska’s sustainable economic growth.
Linda Huston, Regional Director for Southeast Alaska and Yukon Operations for Holland America. Linda addressed the forecast and trends for the 2006 season and the 2006 cruise ship ballot initiative.
Deborah Lyons from Sitka Trail Works. Deborah spoke to the Chamber regarding Sitka Trail Works mission which is to contribute to the overall health of the community through the development, maintenance and preservations of a comprehensive trail system.
Senator Stedman discussed the 2006 Legislative Session and answered questions.
The Chamber lunch has been held at the Alaska Raptor Center - Alaska's foremost bald eagle hospital and educational center.
All lunches are open to the public and cost between 10.00-13.00 dollars.If you are not a member please feel free to come to lunch. You will find an inviting atmosphere and a wealth of networking opportunities.
