Sitka Fine Arts Camp at Sheldon Jackson Campus - Since 1973, the Fine Arts Camp has been attracting students ages 12-18 from Alaska and beyond to study the fine arts of theater, dance, music, visual arts, writing and Alaska Native arts. Mudball Classic Softball Tournament - Labor Day Weekend - This annual Labor Day Weekend tournament invites softball teams around the nation to play in Sitka. www.sitkasoftball.com
Season's End Celebration - September 24th, Saturday - A celebration for another successful summer season! The Alaska Cruise Association sponsors this celebration as a way of thanking Sitka for hosting their passengers throughout the summer.
Co-sponsors include Seafood Producers Coop, Sitka Sound Seafoods and Silver Bay Seafoods, who will be preparing and serving rockfish and coleslaw, as their thank you to the community.
Running of the Boots - Sitka’s answer to Spain’s “Running of the Bulls” -- Pull on your boots and wear your zaniest costume! Lots of prize categories! Business Contest
The Sitka Chamber of Commerce is looking for the best holiday decorations among Sitka businesses. The judges will be looking for interior and exterior decorations that attract shoppers and invite them to stay and shop.
Residential Contest
Winners of both awards will receive a bottle of wine, donated by Odom Corporation and a delicious holiday turkey donated by Seamart Quality Foods.
Special Holiday Shopping Events
Landlubbers Parade - The Landlubbers Christmas Parade goes down Lincoln Street and ends at Kettleson Library, where Santa visits and shares treats with Sitka kids.
